yessss, this spot is just right....

RTO and I often joke about how maggie is trying to replace me. I'll get up and when I come back, there's maggie in my spot looking very pleased with herself.

sewer fun update...

the city workers got here early this morning and there's currently a large hole surrounded by orange cones and a backhoe in the front yard. yay! I think they're at lunch now. I may try to get some pictures.

Thursday must have been a slow news day...

This headline was on the bottom of the front page:

Oak Cliff intruder wasn't a cat burglar, but it wore a mask

oh my!

and of course it wasn't until you got to the continuation of the story inside the paper that they mentioned it was a raccoon. well played, Steve Thompson, well played.

Saturday recording...

ha ha, yes! haven't transferred much yet, but there's a local thrift store that has 99 cent records. Most of them are kinda scary and moldy, but I can usually find a few gems. so today I'm recording new to me things....

Christmas Hymns and Carols - Mario Lanza: mostly traditional things here, some interesting arrangements. Jumped when the deep voice announced each king before his verse in We Three Kings. One of the peppiest O Holy Nights I've ever heard, NTTAWWT. and one thing I hadn't heard before, Guardian Angels.

Gluck: Orfeo ed Euridice - Highlights: okay, this didn't come from the thrift store, but anyhoo, it's got Marilyn Horne singing Orfeo, so I figured it was worth the somewhat higher Half Price Books price. meh. everyone sounds great, this just isn't my cup of tea musically speaking. probably should be, but not today.

and things get more amusing....

we're currently living in a wind tunnel. I took a few pictures, but then the camera died. we decided to just get rid of the carpet in the bedroom, the clean up people cut out a large chunk of it. There are four large fans scattered throughout the house and a dehumidifier in the bedroom.

sooooo, we've moved our mattress into the front guest room. (keeping something finally paid off! we still have the originial bed frame, and it's hilarious watching Roxie keep attempting to crawl under the bed.) anyhoo, things will be this way til Monday.

so they didn't find any bodies today....

just... something... (I'm not clear on the details, guess I could watch the tape) blocking our sewer line. yay! so all the water in the house yesterday was from the sewer! yay! which means professionals have been called to clean the place up properly. and they are very proud of the work they do if their fees are any indication.

RTO says the city is supposed to come out next week and fix their part of the problem. (apparently whatever was blocking our line was working it's way up from the city line, but the pipe up to the house is currently unblocked enough not to be a problem anytime soon. or so I'm told)

This is what I get for talking out loud in the house about money. The moment I say, "I think we're in good shape" something happens.

so, um, if I disappear for a while...

we've probably drowned.

I do laundry for a change and now there's water all over the place.

next is where we find out somebody died a horrible death under out house, right?

something I've been pondering since I saw it....

no need to watch the whole thing... although the sewing machine bits are impressive and you may want to skip to the end for the presentation of the finished project.

are those puppet paws or gloves? I think maybe it's a mix.

seen at cute overload.

on the agenda today?

PANIC! and possibly TMI so you may want to quit reading at this point anyway.

Dr: um, are you upset about something?

MK: no *sniffle*

Dr: maybe worried we might find something? or worried about what we're going to do to you in the other room?

MK: no, um, I just do this when I talk to doctors.

sometimes I think this must be why the few doctors I saw about feeling rundown all the time went with depression because I'd get there and just start bawling. not saying they were entirely wrong, but they tended to not wonder much about any other cause. because really, who cries all the time? oh, I rehearse being all calm and talking about my symptoms over and over in my mind, but it's never actually happened in real life.

so anyway had some blood drawn, which is always fun, got stuck in my left forearm at first and then they moved to the back of my right hand after the first vein quit working. I actually prefer that to the inside of the elbow thing. felt a little light headed but managed to stay upright the whole time. oh, also was thankful that they had stacks of cups in the restroom for urine samples because I dropped the first one I wrote my name on in the toilet. hopefully they don't check the trash can for that kind of thing. (I warned you about TMI, but it's all amusing to me now so I'm rambling about it)

a Pentavirate Triumvirate

RTO: so me and Matt have decided they need to forget the bailout and just appoint a three person commission. and the three people would be..

MK: The pope!

RTO: Warren Buffett...

MK: LOL

RTO: Warren Buffett...

MK: hee hee

RTO: Warren Buffett...

MK: but, Colonel Sanders is dead. *

RTO: you haven't heard a word I've said have you?

MK: Warren Buffett, Warren Buffett, Warren Buffett

RTO: okay, get it out of your system...

MK:

RTO:
Warren Buffett, cause he has lots of money and opposes the bill. George Soros because he has lots of money and supports it... and Ross Perot just for fun.
